چکیده
In the cases discussed here, the first case is of a 73 yrs old male suffering from diabetes mellitus and second case is of 45 yrs HIV positive female. Both patients presented with pain and swelling of eyelids, conjunctival chemosis, proptosis and reduced visual acuity. They underwent nasal endoscopic drainage of the abscess and orbital decompression. First patient also underwent simultaneous repair of CSF Leak using nasal septal cartilage and bone and second patient who had lower eyelid necrotizing fascitis underwent lateral canthotomy followed by tarsorrhaphy. Both the patients improved postoperatively.

INTRODUCTION The management of orbital abscesses in neonates and infants is very challenging. Surgical drainage of the abscess is aimed at removing the pus and preventing blindness. We describe a case of orbital abscess in an infant that was caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and that was successfully drained with image-guided endoscopic surgery. PRESENTATION OF CASE A 39-d...

BACKGROUND Orbital subperiosteal abscess (SPA) describes a process in which a collection of pus forms between the bony orbit and the periorbita. SPA most commonly arises as a complication of acute sinusitis, where it exists along a spectrum of orbital involvement from limited (preseptal cellulitis) to severe (cavernous sinus thrombosis). The surgical management of SPA in children has evolved fr...
متن کاملAcute Orbital Cellulitis: A Case Series
Orbital cellulitis is an important and frequent complication of rhinosinusitis. If not treated adequately and timely, it can lead to loss of vision and life threatening complications. We describe three peculiar cases of orbital cellulitis with favorable outcome. An endoscopic approach is favored if orbital cellulitis is arising as a complication of rhinosinusitis. The nasal endoscopic approach ...

Orbital cellulitis is a septic process of the soft tissues behind the orbital septum and is the most frequent cause of the monolateral exophthalmos in pediatrics. Approximately 90% of the orbital cellulitis in pediatrics are associated to acute ethmoiditis. From the 01.01.2001 to 31.12.2010 we treated 36 patients, less than 18 years-old affected by Chandler stage II, III, or IV orbital cellulit...
